Doctrine
Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God, the authors being uniquely and distinctly inspired by God the Holy Spirit , and the words contained to be sufficiently complete and authoritative. Due to its nature as being ‘God-breathed,’ there is no man-made doctrine, creed, or confession which holds the same authority as the Bible.
Sovereignty of God
We believe God to be the creator and sustainer of all that exists, sufficient in Himself for Himself; yet compelled through His love to create a people in His own image for His own good pleasure and glory. The God who is proclaimed in the Bible is uniquely special. He holds all power, all knowledge, all wisdom, and alone is worthy of all blessing and honor and praise. In this magnificence, God is fully sovereign, willing everything that comes to pass to be so; never being usurped by human freedom.
We believe God to be working toward the ultimate good in the universe; namely, promoting His own glory. Everything that God acts on earth is for this ultimate purpose, and thus it is our calling to promote this greatest good. We believe every saved soul, revival, act of love, and good deed promotes Him.
Nature of God
We believe God, as revealed to us through the Holy scriptures, to be triune in nature, being but one entity yet three in persons. God has made it plain through the Bible that He is one being, yet exists as three distinct persons; namely, the Father, Son and Spirit. The Father is not the Son, Son not the Spirit, Spirit not the Father, yet together they exist as Him who we call God.
We believe God alone to be good, excellent, and perfect. All goodness and quality in this life extends from His character, attributes, and being.
Nature of Man
We believe man to be created in the image of God with all due respect, honor, and dignity; yet, fallen in nature. Man is distinct from all other creations, having the Image of God in their being. Yet, man is sufficiently broken from birth to condemn him to eternal damnation. In this hopeless state, man is a sorry creature; an example of fallen dignity. Yet, in His love and purpose, God Himself extended His hand to lift mankind out of this depraved state, understanding we could not do so ourselves.
God’s Plan for Redemption
We believe man, in our fallen state, is destined for the eternal cup of God’s wrath called Hell. Yet, God tells us in His word it is His desire that none should perish. Our problem then is that if God is to be just He must punish sin, yet if He punishes sin we are all in a lowly and depraved state. God, in His divine foreknowledge, before the creation of the universe, created an escape plan for His fallen creation. Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, volunteered to enter into human history as a man, live a perfect life, die the death we deserve, suffer God’s wrath on our behalf, and rise from the dead.
We believe this work that Christ did on earth is what saves us into heaven. We cannot earn salvation, as our greatest deeds amount to no more than filthy rags without the indwelling power of God. We were indebted to sin, slaves to our desires. But Jesus paid the penalty for our sin; He took upon Himself the holy wrath of God. In doing so, He opened the door for humanity and God to be reconciled. His call now is to trust in Him and allow the work that He has already done to count on our behalf.
Salvation
We believe we are saved by Jesus’ redeeming work on Calvary by faith in Him, and not by works. In the New Testament Epistles, Paul speaks vehemently against the notion that we can do anything to earn this salvation. It is human arrogance to proclaim we can find the way to God ourselves. No, but God, in His love, extended His hand, paid the penalty we earned, and defeated the grave so we could have no participation in our salvation. Our salvation begins as a work of God, continues as a work of God, and is completed as a work of God.
The Church
We believe the church to be primarily and fundamentally a people; a people who are the visible body of Christ in this world, God's agent. We understand our ministry is but a small portion of the full church.
We believe in the calling to be inter-denominational; to be composed of individuals from a multitude of beliefs and denominations, so long as they agree with the ecumenical reeds of the early church fathers - those doctrines that all believers of all time agree with. We exist to promote unity in the church, a unity seen throughout the book of Acts and the early church.
Our Future
We believe man was created to be in relationship with God, and one day this will be made true in its fullest form. We currently live in a broken world, experiencing the consequences of the fall. Yet, we are told repeatedly throughout scripture this is not our final destination. We are not destined for wrath, but for redemption as sons, as co-heirs with Christ. We understand that one day this earth will be destroyed, renewed, and merged with Heaven to create a vibrant, beautiful, radiant, charming, and inspiring world with God the ultimate beauty at its center.
